A Los Angeles firm built around one idea: the worker comes first.
Lessing Solov founded the firm in 1965 after returning from Army service and earning his law degree at Hastings College of Law. From day one, the practice was anchored in a simple principle — that an injured worker, an immigrant who didn't speak English, a tradesperson whose body had been spent on a California construction site, all deserved a lawyer who would take the case as seriously as a Fortune-500 contract dispute.
Six decades later, that principle still defines us. Solov & Teitell, APC handles workers' compensation, personal injury, and employment matters across Southern California. We are not a billboard firm and we are not a settlement mill. The relationship between an injured worker and their lawyer is, in our experience, the single most important factor in the outcome of the case — and we build our practice around protecting that relationship.
What we do
Our practice concentrates on the legal problems that workers and accident victims actually face in California:
- Workers' compensation under Labor Code §3200 et seq. — securing medical care, temporary and permanent disability benefits, supplemental job displacement benefits, and stipulated awards or compromise-and-release settlements.
- Third-party civil claims against general contractors, equipment manufacturers, property owners, and other non-employer parties whose negligence caused a workplace injury — often the largest single component of a worker's total recovery.
- Personal injury matters including motor vehicle, motorcycle, bicycle and pedestrian collisions, premises liability, defective products, and medical malpractice.
- Catastrophic injury cases — traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, severe burns — where the medical and life-care costs are measured in the millions and the future of the entire family is on the line.
Our mission
Solov & Teitell exists to help injured California workers and accident victims pursue every benefit and every dollar of compensation they are legally entitled to recover. That means securing workers' comp medical and disability benefits, pursuing Social Security Disability where appropriate, and identifying every third-party civil claim that can be brought alongside the workers' comp file.
It also means being a firm our clients can actually reach. We answer the phone. We return calls. We translate everything into the language our client speaks at home, and we don't leave clients sitting in a waiting room wondering whether anyone is working on their file. Transparent, accessible, user-friendly, reliable representation — those four words are not marketing copy at this firm, they are the standard we measure ourselves against.
Three languages, one team
Los Angeles is one of the most linguistically diverse legal markets in the United States, and our firm has built its practice around that reality. We offer in-house representation in English, Spanish, and Korean — with attorneys and staff who speak each of those languages fluently. That matters because the difference between a translated form and a real conversation in your own language can decide whether a claim is accurately documented or quietly waived.
How we charge
We handle workers' compensation and personal injury cases on a contingency-fee basis. There is no charge for the initial consultation, no charge to evaluate your case, and no fee to you unless we recover a settlement, award, or verdict on your behalf. Workers' compensation attorney fees are regulated by the California Workers' Compensation Appeals Board and are paid out of the recovery — not from your weekly disability checks.
If you cannot come to us, we will come to you
A workplace injury that requires home care, a traumatic brain injury that leaves a client unable to drive, a burn injury that requires extended hospitalization — these are everyday realities in this practice. When a client cannot physically come to our Olympic Boulevard office, a Solov & Teitell attorney will travel to the client's home, hospital room, or rehabilitation facility for the consultation. There is no additional charge for that.
